Witbound

Terms of Use

Effective 4 October 2026

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive people in Witbound. Anything others can see can be reported, people can be blocked, and anyone who breaks these terms is removed.

Who these terms are for

These terms apply to everyone who uses Witbound on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android, and in particular to its community features: community sync, the shared Wanted and Synced lists in Discover, and Groups, where friends read the same book on a shared schedule. If you got Witbound from the App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play’s terms apply as well.

Your books

Use Witbound only with books and audiobooks you have the right to use. Witbound does not provide, host or link to books, and it never removes copy protection.

What others can see

In Groups, the other members of a group see your group name (a name you choose, with a 4-digit tag), the picture you pick, if any, from the 24 engravings that come with the app, the names of the groups you are in, the books you add or suggest, and your progress in the group’s current book: chapter, percent, stage, status, when you last read and whether you are reading now. Your book files never leave your device. In Discover, books you choose to share appear on the public lists without your name.

Names and book titles are checked by a word filter and an automated safety check before others see them. There is no chat and no free text anywhere else.

No objectionable content, no abuse

Do not use a name, a group name or a book you add or suggest to share:

  • sexual content;
  • hateful content, or content that attacks people for who they are;
  • harassment, threats, bullying or impersonation of someone else;
  • spam, advertising or links;
  • anything illegal, or that promotes violence or self-harm.

Do not misuse the service either: no automated access, no attempts to get around limits, bans or blocks, and no interfering with other readers’ progress.

Report, block and leave

In a group, the menu next to a reader’s name has Report and Block, and the group’s own menu has Report group and Leave group. A report sends the reason you pick; a group or reader that several people report is hidden until we review it. Blocking hides that reader’s content from you, and they cannot rejoin a group you run. You can leave a group at any time. In Discover, any book on the public lists can be hidden or reported.

We review reports and act on them as quickly as we can, aiming for within 24 hours: we remove objectionable content, and we remove people who post it or who abuse others, which can include banning their device from Groups. You can also email us at zarksided@gmail.com.

Deleting your group profile

Delete my group profile, in Settings, removes your name, your place in every group, your suggestions and your group moments from Witbound’s service. A group you run passes to its longest-standing member, or is deleted if you are its only member. The privacy policy describes what is stored and for how long.

The service

Witbound and its community features are provided as they are, and they may change or stop. We are not responsible for what other readers share, though we act on reports as described above. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live.

Changes

We will update this page when the rules change, and show the effective date above.
